Colorado Blue Swim Team

Colorado Blue is a year-round, USA Swimming Sanctioned, competitive Swim Team, serving East Denver and Aurora.
Our Head Coach is Gavin Ross. Coach Ross has over 35 years of national and international coaching experience. He has coached all levels of swimmers in both the United States and South Africa, serving as the national junior coach of South Africa and has coached numerous internationally ranked swimmers, Olympians and medalists.
Colorado Blue Swim Team Tryout & Registration Information
A new season is starting for the Colorado Blue Swim Team! We're excited to help you find the right practice group for your swimmer.
Pre-Season Tryouts
If you are joining Colorado Blue before the start of the fall 2026 season, we offer two rounds of scheduled tryouts.
First Wave Tryouts
Location: Aurora Central High School
Time: 5:30 pm
Dates:
- Monday, July 13
- Wednesday, July 15
- Monday, July 20
- Wednesday, July 22
- Monday, July 27
- Wednesday, July 29
Each tryout lasts approximately 30 minutes. Based on the coach's assessment, swimmers may be invited to stay for an additional 30 minutes of practice that evening.

Second Wave Tryouts
A second round of tryouts will be offered during the weeks of August 17 and August 24. Dates and registration information will be posted on our website as they become available.
Mid-Season Tryouts
Families interested in joining after the season has begun may attend practice through our mid-season tryout process.
Tryout Practices
New swimmers are welcome to attend up to two (2) complimentary tryout practices to determine whether Colorado Blue is a good fit.
If additional evaluation time is needed, swimmers may attend
up to five (5) total practices before making an enrollment decision. Practices beyond the first two complimentary sessions will be charged at our standard drop-in rate.
USA Swimming Membership Requirements
Swimmers who do not currently have a USA Swimming membership
- May participate in tryout practices for up to one week.
- After one week, USA Swimming requires all athletes participating in club practices to obtain a current USA Swimming membership.
Swimmers who already have a current USA Swimming membership with another club
- May attend Colorado Blue practices as a drop-in swimmer for up to two weeks or ten (10) practices, whichever comes first.
- After that point, swimmers must either register with or transfer to Colorado Blue if they wish to continue training.

Registration

Once you have registered, please do the following:
- Read our Parent Handbook and the accompanying FAQ Page. This will ensure you know which group you want to sign your swimmer up for! This should take 15-20 minutes. These documents include information about all fees, practices, practice groups, etc. The FAQ document is a quick reference guide for this information!
- Sign the Parent & Swimmer Responsibilities & Commitment Form. This should take 5-10 minutes
