Supporting Adaptive & Neurodiverse Swimmers
At Swimming Simply, we believe every swimmer can succeed in the water with the right support. We proudly offer adaptive and neurodiverse swim instruction led by highly trained instructors who bring experience, flexibility, and care to every lesson.
Our approach is individualized and family-centered. Each adaptive or neurodiverse swimmer is supported by our Senior Program Manager, Ellen Crosby, who partners closely with families to create an Individualized Swim Plan (ISP) – similar to an IEP for swimming. This plan is tailored to each swimmer’s unique needs, strengths, goals and accommodates and supports our instructional approach across lessons.
Ellen helps coordinate instruction, supports ongoing communication between families and instructors, and ensures swimmers are receiving the tools and support they need to build confidence, make progress, and meet their goals—simply and safely.
Our Wheat Ridge pool is small, warm (91 degrees), and low-sensory. At most, there will be four instructors and four swimmers in the pool at one time. This pool is by far the best fit for most swimmers who have sensory concerns or need a very warm pool. We also teach lessons at other warm and smaller pools across Greater Denver. Please inquire about this when you reach out. Please email Heather Maffeo or fill out our contact form to get started.
Many families in Colorado may qualify for funding to help cover the cost of swim lessons for children with adaptive needs, disabilities, or neurodiversity. Visit our Adaptive and Neurodiverse Funding Sources page for information about obtaining funding support for your swimmer.
